Schaefer Law Firm – Our People

Attorney Kimberley Schaefer

I help future Americans become citizens. I do this by helping people navigate the process of obtaining green cards, fiance visas, immigrant visas and immigration waivers so that they can become permanent residents.

Kimberley is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), a national association of over 11,000 attorneys and law professors who practice and teach immigration law.

Kimberley has completed intensive consular officer training offered by the Department of State at the National Foreign Affairs Training Center in Arlington, Virginia and has provided consular services in Lagos, Nigeria. She has an international background and has lived or worked in the United States, Europe, Asia and Africa.

Prior to law school Kimberley served as a communications officer in the United States Marine Corps and worked in both the private and public sectors. She previously worked as an associate attorney at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in Washington, DC.

Kimberley is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center. She graduated magna cum laude and was granted Order of the Coif recognition for graduating in the top 10% of her class. During law school she was a member of the American Criminal Law Review and served as the Notes Development Editor.

Kimberley’s practice is limited to immigration and nationality law. She is licensed to practice law by the District of Columbia and Virginia.

Attorney Scott Peterson

Scott Peterson is an attorney at the Schaefer Law Firm. He is a native Idahoan who grew up in Rexburg, Idaho. He graduated from BYU-Idaho before moving to Boise, Idaho to attend Concordia University School of Law. Before studying at BYU-Idaho, Scott served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Santiago, Chile. While there, he learned Spanish as well as an appreciation for different cultures and customs.

Scott graduated from Concordia University School of Law in May of 2016 and was admitted to the Idaho State Bar that same year. During law school, Scott worked at the Schaefer Law Firm as a paralegal where he became more familiar with the intricacies of immigration law. Scott is a member of American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) where he is the Asylum Liaison for the Idaho chapter.

Scott is married with four children, who keep him and his wife very busy. In his spare time, Scott likes to golf and spend time with his wife and kids.

Law Clerk Vrinda Gandhi

Vrinda is a law clerk in our Boise, Idaho office. She will graduate from Concordia Law School in May 2019.
